Our clubs very own certified professional, Dirk Denoyelle, has appeared on RTL Late Night.
His company, Amazings, made a mosaic of the singer, and Dirk made an appearance as well.

Death Star Trench Run
Fellow BeLUG member Tom Vanhaelen has been tinkering with Star wars Microbuilds lately, and here is the fantastic looking result!
He build a part of the Trench Run on the Death Star, but instead of the usual X Wings and TIE Fighters you tend to see on that run, he opted to use an Y Wing.
The ships is greatly detailed considering it`s size (for example, the bars of the engines are wizard staves), and the trench itself is full of lovely gribblies!

Stranger Things Eleven mosaic
I found the newest creation by our former BeLUG board member Hans Demol, or hd_lego as he is known on Flickr, on our BeLUG facebook page.
This character from the 2016 Netflix original series Stranger Things has been lovely recreated. Using a bit of red to give him a bloodied nose in the mosaic, makes that it adds some strong contrast to the whole picture.
A great piece of work, and it will be shown on Comic Con Brussels, taking place the end of february, in all it's glory. So if you want to see it "for real", you know where to go!

Pikachu for Charity
Game Mania is auctioning a giant Pikachu model for the benefit of "De Warmste Week', a charity project here in Belgium that returns every year.
In this project, all kinds of charity initiatives can be supported, and Pikachu has been created to support Bednet, which provides for internet teaching to sick children.
The awesome model was build by BeLUG member Dirk Van Haesbroeck, and he also gave me these beautiful high res pictures yesterday to share with you all.

The Beluga sailing ship
During the clubday, a workshop was given on How to Build sailing ships, a project initiated by Maxim Illegems and friends.
The ship was "sponsored" for parts by BeLUG as such, and wouldbe on display at the huge Pirate lay-out of Brick Mania Antwerpen 2016.
This lay-out, containing a lot of participants from different countries, had heaps of participants and a lot of Brethren of the Brick Seas "celebrities".

But now, back to the ship itself, and I`ll quote Maxim on the whole project as such:
What happens when some of the best builders in the world decide to build a fregate together?
I asked myself this question 6 months ago as I wanted to do something original for the BELUG (Belgian Lego User Group) Clubday in September. Why not a workshop on "how to make a fregate"? As Belug has some legendary shipbuilders in it rangs (CGH, Sebeus, Bonaparte and maybe one day I may say myself), this should not be that difficult...
Well, it is... As I had to order all parts from scratch (requested by Belug), it was a difficult task as every ship is different. It is nearly impossible to say in advance how many bricks you need and what type of bricks you need...
Anyway, a succesfull clubday and a few additional meetings later (with the necessary food and beer), she was ready to be showed at Brickmania Antwerp.
So here she is, the "Beluga":

New builds by Daniel Vermeir
Daniel Vermeir, who we featured recently on our Meet BeLUG series, has enjoyed us with two more fantastic MOC's on our forum.
The first, Bravery, is set in his usually medieval / fantasy style of builds, and shows a barbarian attacking some men-at-arms.
The second, After Practice Tea, is as he describes himself "outside his usual comfort zone", and shows a japanese samurai at practice.
Both are once more fantastic builds!

Ros Beiaard by Arne, aged 8
Not every MOC has to be super impressive or completely life-like as all the pieces of art we see passing by every day.
We all had to start somewhere, and I think it is only fitting that as a club blogpage, attention is paid to the creations of EVERY member of the club.
So today, Arne's parents posted his depiction of the Ros Beiaard, a folk tale from the Dendermonde region, on our Facebook page.
Arne, only aged 8 years old, did a great job on his build of the story of the 4 children and their horse, making use of even the Nexo Knights figures to complete it.
Great work and keep it up!

Custom 501st Legion Clone Troopers by Jehan
One of our well known Star Wars builders, Jehan Snyers d'Attenhoven, also known on our forum as Veynom, has made some excellent customised Clone Troopers.
The 501st, which would become Vader's elite unit, is a crack legion of Clone Troopers.
Here you can see his whole explanation (in french) and pictures of his newest regiment. I saw them "in the flesh" at our clubday, and I was seriously impressed by the quality.
De gauche à droite: Captain Rex, Sergeant Appo, Kix, Jesse, Dogma, Havoc, Echo.
Rex est la minifig classique de chez TLC avec des accessoires customs. Tous les autres ont des décalcomanies custom, des casques customs, des armes customs et des pauldrons customs. Admirez les variétés des torses
Les décals sur les bras apportent un véritable plus et certains bras sont différents (Appo, Kix).
Bon, je sais, pour Kix, le lgo médical n'est pas exactement le bon.
Une vue de dos pour voir que là aussi, il y a des différences.
Les 6 customs avec décalcomanies sur le torse, dos, les bras, et les genoux. Jesse a également des ceintures en décal.

Et l'ensemble de ma 501ème à ce jour:
Pour info:
- les armes viennent de chez The Little Arms Shop
- les pauldrons (capes) viennent de chez Cape Madness
- les casques viennent de chez Clone Army Custom
- les décalcomanies sont fait maison. J'ai scanné une planche de stickers achetée sur eBay. Puis j'ai imprimé le scan sur des feuilles de décalcomanies vierges (difficile à trouver) transparentes. Ensuite, il a fallu vernir à la bombe, car au pinceau, cela fait couler l'encre. Pour la pose, on découpe finement, on met dans l'eau, on attend que le décal se détache de son support et on aplique sur le modèle. J'ai utilisé les produits Microscale pour bien faire adhérer sur les surfaces courbes (bras, jambes, bords). J'ai encore verni les minifigs pour que mon fils puissent y jouer.
J'ai appris énormément et il y a 2-3 erreur que je ne ferai plus. Je suis maintenant équipé pour en refaire un ou deux bataillons en plus.
Je suis fier du résultat ... mon armée progresse.

Romeinen in LEGO stenen exhibition: the pictures
Our club president has provided us with pictures of their exhibition in Maaseik, and so here we are to share them with you guys and gals.
Also remember, tomorrow it's Open Monumenten Dag, and then you can also go and see this lovely exhibition!
But let's give the word to our club president, Tom:
My wife (a Roman archaeologist), my son and I have created a great exhibition of Roman culture in LEGO bricks.
We're very proud it is again on display in a museum, in Belgium, in Maaseik.
Each time we try to extend the exhibition ; this time we created a Roman villa and burial area, based on local archaeological excavations. And we also designed a mascotte, our Brickius Maximus, based on the minifig.
Great, isn't it !!
