Hello members and other followers of our RLUG, here we are again with some news from the board, so that you can follow the workings and Machiavellian machinations of the club ;-)
Brick Mania Antwerpen
Let's spend some words on the next event first. Brick Mania Antwerpen is right around the corner, as in two weeks time we will all be flocking to the Waagnatie for the final Brick Mania event of the year.
Expect the details to arrive very soon in your mailbox, including a lay-out of parking venue's and such, as a few things have changed there over the past 12 months.
The workgroup has been doing a great job, and has done it's best to cater for everyone's needs, so let's make this another great event.
Brick Mania Wetteren 2017
A little teaser for the 2017 edition, which will take place during the Easter weekend. It's the 10th anniversary of the Wetteren event, and a very special present is being designed as we speak for the participants. But I ain's telling anything more ;-)
Effective Member Meeting
The friday after Brick Mania Antwerpen, we will be having the next effective member meeting to discuss any changes the club wants to implement in 2017, as well as look back and evaluate the summer and autumn seasons of this year.
If you have any points you want to add to the agenda, OR if you want to enter your motivation to become an effective member, please send these to our club email, contact@belug.be
Clubday 2018
Following nicely on the previous point, in 2018 we will be celebrating our 15th anniversary. A workgroup will be formed "in due time" and this will, like this years clubday, be handed out to the effectives to organise. So you can already start brainstorming, you have about 1.5 years time now to come up with something ;-)
Sci-fi and fantasy conventions in 2017
While we have already been confirmed for quite a few of these for 2017, there is a small rule that is going to be implemented as these are becoming quite a success.
Starting 2017, we are going to ask if people "enlist" if they want to participate at least 1 month in advance for a convention. We will be doing the usual "who wants to join" on the Facebook page and the likes, but for logistical reasons (size of the booth, needed tables, etc etc) Kris and me need to have a decent idea about the number of participants.
I can already say we will be present at Comic Con Brussels in february, StarCom in july and Elftopia in august (that last one is something special, you`ll be exposing in small tents in open air for example, and it lasts until 01.00 at night, you have to dress up, and NO sci-fi allowed, it`s fantasy and medieval only). Keep your eyes peeled for more information about those events when the time is right.
Well, that`s about it for this time. In a few weeks, after the Brick Mania rush and all has calmed down, and we chart our course for 2017 events, you will find me back here on these pages with some more news from our board meetings...

Instructions: Xenomorph
Looking for that little extra for your Halloween display this weekend? Well, now you can thanks to Facebook find from kevinzetolego.
He shares the instructions for a Xenomorph, those cute, pettable beasties from Alien and Aliens (and more in the franchise). Because which Halloween layout is complete without an acid-bleeding, sensor evading monster in minifig scale?
Numbering 34 pieces and nothing extremely rare, get a go at them and please, post them in our Facebook group as well when they are part of your lay-out!

BeLUG at FACTS Autumn 2016
Another great edition of Fatcs took place the past weekend, and of course I was present once more with the delegation of BeLUG.
I had some guests on my `hit` list this year for signatures, and off we went on a very early saturday morning to Flanders Expo Ghent for a weekend of fun and joy.
The BeLUG booth
Located in the Fan Village, or Hall 3, we had a booth full of sets and moc`s alike. The BeLUG team of builders consisted of myself, Kris, Matthieu, Hans, Wilfried, Inge and Stefan. Stefaan and Zwits joined along for "moral support as well.
This resulted in a wide array of models on display, going from a Link mosaic all the way to the Flying Dutchman. Build UCS sets where also present on the booth, and the big Bowser by Koen accompanied us as well.
See our whole booth in this short movie:
All the BeLUG participants also received the event brick for their badge for this edition:
Now, for more personalised pictures of the cosplayers and such, I`d like to refer you to my personal blogpage, as I doubt anyone has need of my ugly mug with selfies for picture after picture ;-)
And so... preparations start for the conventions of 2017. It`ll be a long list, but the following are already confirmed, and keep your eyes fixed on our Facebook page and this blog. In due time, we will hear who wants to join and such.
February 2017 we will be attending Comic Con Brussels
April 2017, the 1st and 2nd, we are at FACTS Spring Edition 2017
July is going to be busy, as we will be both at StarCom (beginning of july) AND Elftopia (end of july).
Oktober 2017 we will be again at FACTS Autumn edition
Now, already a small word about Elftopia. This takes place in castle ground, and instead of a booth we will be in a tent. Also, no Star Wars, no Ghostbusters, no Superheroes... the organisation requested Fantasy / castle era build alone up to Steam Punk, as that is the theme and atmosphere of the convention. You watch movies about the Elf fair in the Netherlands and such to get an impression what this is all about.

BeLUG Herstal Meeting 2016
Yesterday, I travelled to Herstal (nearby Liege) for a small event organised by some of our Walloon clubmembers.
The goal was to provide an afternoon amongst friends, with chatting, drinking something together, expose some things and do some exchanges of sets and figures. Christophe was the bloke behind the original idea, and together with the team of BM Liege, they put it together.
It took place in the cafetaria area of the Herstal sportshall, a mighty big omni-sport location in the center of Herstal. The area was prepared to receive our guests.
The event ran from 14.00 to 18.00 hours up and about, and there where some very nice creations on display:
We also had some hobbyists putting down some trading stands, with some really nice older sets and loose figures to be obtained.
The afternoon passed by in a relaxing fashion, and we counted about 50 people over the whole day. The "usual suspects" of BeLUG numbered in total around 20 (as I had provided 20 special event bricks for today, and they all where handed out), and about 30 non-member visitors and partipants. The set-up was a succes as I could welcome some more people to the "BeLUG family" and there definitly will be more of these sorts of small events in the future.
And at the end of the day, Michel raffled off his sets to the audience...
Great work to all!

BeLUG at Brique Expo Lomme 2016
Today I received a nice report from Ludo Soete about the event at Lomme last weekend. It seems to have been a great and cosy event and a great succes for a first edition, and we thank our team for representing BeLUG at the event.
Brique Expo Lomme (Fr) 2016

enkele GBC modules stond.
Lug, BeLug, Schabenstein 2x4 ) alsook onafhankelijk.

Men had gerekend

Temps Lire’ & LEGO France.
